The APN 25th Joint Intergovernmental Meeting and Scientific Planning Group Meeting (IGM/SPG Meeting) and associated meetings, held online, successfully concluded on 23 June 2022.

The Intergovernmental Meeting (IGM) critically decided to extend the 5th Strategic Phase (20202-2024) by two years until the end of June 2026 in consideration o the impact of the global COVID-19 pandemic. In addition, the IGM also announced that more than 100 publications from APN projects and activities have been cited in the IPCC Sixth Assessment Report, which provides the most comprehensive and up-to-date evaluation of the state of the climate and its potential impacts. APN’s contributions to the promotion of the Regional Circular and Ecological Sphere (R-CES) in Asian countries was also highlighted, with the aim to enhance the understanding of locally-led adaptation and its role in contributing to the implementaiton of the Paris Agreement.
