Michael Batty

Tuvalu Fisheries Department

Mike Batty is the Fisheries Adviser for the Tuvalu Government, a position he has held for four years. He has served at a senior level in Pacific regional organisations: as the Director of Fisheries Development at the FFA and Director of the Fisheries Programmes (FAME) at SPC. Mike is originally from Britain and has more than 30 years of experience in fisheries management and development. He has worked with the Solomon Islands Fisheries Department for eight years, managed the National Fisheries Authority of Papua New Guinea during the organisation’s reform, and has undertaken short-term work in several other Pacific Island countries. Outside the region, Mike has also worked on projects in the South Atlantic, Sudan and Namibia.
