Call for nominations of fellows for the Second Global Assessment of Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services

Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES) is now inviting governments and relevant organisations to nominate eligible early-career individuals to participate in the fellowship program for the second global assessment of biodiversity and ecosystem services. This assessment was approved by the IPBES Plenary at its 11th session (IPBES-11/1) and aims to evaluate new knowledge since the release of the 2019 Global Assessment Report on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services, as well as assess progress toward achieving the goals of sustainability and living in harmony with nature. The assessment will provide policymakers with the necessary scientific data and analytical support to better understand and address global biodiversity and ecosystem service challenges. It will also facilitate interaction and collaboration among the academic community, policymakers and local communities, contributing to the promotion of sustainable development and environmental protection.

Candidates should have an interdisciplinary background in natural sciences, social sciences or humanities, with a particular focus on those with expertise in Indigenous and local knowledge. Selected fellows will have the opportunity to contribute to the preparation of assessment chapters and collaborate with a mentor.
