Enhancing Human Wellbeing through Ecosystem-Based Solutions in Asia

The project focuses on analyzing the interlinkages between ecosystem services (ES) and human wellbeing (WB) to develop climate-smart, policy-relevant solutions for resource security using an Ecosystem-based Adaptation (EbA) approach. Targeting natural ecosystems in Asia, which are deteriorating due to climate change and socioeconomic factors, the study aims to foster resilience in human societies by leveraging indigenous and local knowledge (ILK). Research is conducted in Phewa Lake Basin, Nepal; Sundarbans mangrove ecosystem, Bangladesh; and Lakhwar watershed, India. The project partners include experts from Hosei University, Pokhara University, University of Dhaka, and Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee. Key deliverables include robust ES data, enhanced stakeholder understanding, academic contributions, and local EbA policy implementation.
